The Green Homes Grant has launched, making 600,000 homeowners in England eligible for vouchers of up to £5,000 or £10,000 to make energy efficiency upgrades to their homes.
As part of a £3bn government initiative to reduce carbon emissions across the UK, the Green Homes Grant is set to subsidise two-thirds of energy-efficient home improvements, or for low-income owners, a subsidy for 100% of the costs.
Adopting a tiered approach, the Green Homes Grant is in two stages, primary and secondary. Primary measures, including insulation and low carbon heat installations, must be used before eligible homeowners can move onto secondary measures and the money spent on the secondary cannot exceed that of the primary.
