Whale Sense brings safety and ease of installation to showers

Whale® has announced the launch of Whale Sense, an innovative flood reduction system for mixer shower installations, which offers ease of installation via Bluetooth connectivity, additional property protection and peace of mind for the end user.

Bluetooth – Ease of installation for Mixer Showers

Whale Sense is an additional control unit which enables Bluetooth connectivity between the Whale Instant Match and mixer shower in a pumped drainage installation. The Instant Match uses a digital signal sent from the Whale Sense via Bluetooth to automatically adjust the pump speed in relation to the flow rate of the shower, removing the need for a hard-wired connection to the Instant Match and minimising gulley suction noise.

Using the latest Bluetooth technology, Whale Sense may be installed outside the bathroom area, such as in an adjacent room or loft, providing greater flexibility and reducing installation time.

Enhanced Safety

In addition, Whale Sense offers increased end-user and property protection through its unique safety and flood reduction features. Through fitting solenoid valves in the hot and cold feeds, the Whale Sense features the ability to turn the water supplies to the shower on and off for a preset period, reducing the risk of a flood.

The solenoids may be controlled via a passive infrared sensor (PIR) or a retractive switch. This feature ensures water is not left running, conserving water, and providing additional protection for users who may forget to turn off the water.

A further feature is that in an instance where you have power failure to the Whale pump, the Whale Sense will recognize this and automatically begin its shutdown sequence.

“Whale’s portfolio of innovative pumped shower drainage solutions is further strengthened by Whale Sense, meaning wireless connectivity between the pump and shower and property flood protection can be achieved for any shower installation,” said Patrick Roberts, VP and General Manager, Performance Components at Navico Group. “These transformative features benefit both the end user and the installer, continuing Whale’s legacy of investment and commitment to product innovation and sustainability.”
