Selkent grows own-label brands

Selkent has ambitious plans to grow its own-label offering with a new carbide-tipped reciprocating saw blade the latest product to be added to its expanding product range.

The newly available carbide-tipper saw is said to last up to 50 times longer than standard bi-metal equivalents. Moving to sell own high quality branded tools and fixings is key to the company’s business strategy as Vaughan Bushnell, Director at Selkent explains: “We currently sell over 8,000 different products and will be adding more that carry the Selkent brand to help over-deliver on market expectations.

“We work closely with our global network of manufacturers, and this reciprocating saw blade was the perfect product to fit within our ambitious plans. Combining performance, quality and price point, we believe it makes an ideal addition to our own-branded portfolio.”

The ambitious strategy to grow its own-label offering is designed to help Selkent provide a complete service and build efficiencies right across the supply chain. Vaughan continues: “We pride ourselves on offering an ultra-responsive service, tailored toward our customers in the construction and civils sectors. Retaining full control of logistics is key to this, operating our own fleet of vehicles to deliver next day nationwide and same day in London.

“Further developing our own range of products is enabling us to also take more control over quality, price and availability, providing an even better service and keeping costs down. We are working with manufacturers all the time to expand the range wherever our customers need it.”

The reciprocating saw blade features advanced carbide technology with each tooth individually coated to give ultra hard tips. This enhances durability, making the blades suitable for cutting cast iron or even stainless steel, and at the same time allows for some flexibility under extreme cutting conditions and lasts up to 50 times longer than their standard bi-metal equivalent.
