NHBC, the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK, has today launched the latest edition of its Standards for the house-building industry.
For 80 years, NHBC Standards have been the go-to source for trusted technical guidance for the house-building sector, and are consistently developed, reviewed and revised to support the industry to maintain and improve quality standards.
NHBC Standards 2017 includes a number of important technical updates and revisions, including the new Chapter 6.11 Render and rendering systems. The 2017 edition follows the introduction of the new look Standards 2016 and continues the innovative use of online technology that makes the Standards both accessible and engaging.
Coming into effect on 1st January, Standards 2017 contains new or revised guidance in a number of areas, including Chapter 3.3 Timber preservation, Chapter 5.4 Waterproofing of basements and other below ground structures and Chapter 7.1 Flat roofs and balconies.
Commenting on the new publication, NHBC Standards Manager Paul Cribbens, said: “NHBC Standards continue to support the industry in the delivery of high quality new homes across the UK.
“Supporting house builders to raise the standard of new homes built across the UK is paramount to our mission at NHBC, alongside offering warranty protection to the homeowners who live in them. By working with the industry to develop proven practical guidance that addresses technical issues to help prevent defects, we are confident that NHBC Standards will continue to support builders and developers in the delivery of high quality new homes.”
