Grayson proud to sponsor Guild of Bricklayers 2023 National Finals

Construction consumables supplier Grayson recently sponsored and celebrated the Guild of Bricklayers’ 2023 National Finals at the NHBC training centre in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Founded in 1932, the Guild of Bricklayers is a national association dedicated to promoting and maintaining the highest standards of brickwork craftsmanship. The organisation covers the whole of the United Kingdom through its thirteen geographical regions.

Each year, the Guild organises regional brickwork competitions at senior, junior and school levels. The competitions all lead up to the National Finals which brings together the winners from each of the regional events. It’s a great opportunity for colleges, students, contractors, bricklayers, and tutors from around the UK to get together to celebrate some of the best in the business. 2023 has seen a huge turnout with considerable backing from the industry and the education sector.

Passionate about supporting budding bricklayers and as the UK’s leading innovator of brickwork products, Grayson regularly supplies the NHBC training hubs around the UK with modern construction sundries and materials. All the contestants in the GOB National Finals used Grayson Mortar Spot Boards and Board Stands, as well as Mortar Tubs and Brick Profiles.

Tony Higson, Managing Director at Grayson, says: “As a proud corporate partner of the Guild of Bricklayers, it was a pleasure to sponsor the National Finals at the NHBC Tamworth training hub. The Grayson team had a fantastic day supporting the awards and it was great to see the wonderful craftsmanship on display.

When attending these events, you can’t help but feel a huge sense of hope about the future of our trade and the industry as a whole. The top-notch quality, skill and dedication from these junior bricklayers is really encouraging. We would like to congratulate all the winners, runners-up, participants, judges and directing staff. Getting to the GOB National Finals is a significant accolade in itself!”

NHBC Technical Trainer Leigh Jakeman, adds: “It was an honour to host the Guild of Bricklayers’ National Finals at our training hub in Tamworth, supporting the Guild to promote and maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship in brickwork, and recognise the very best bricklayers of the future. This is the highlight of the Guild’s calendar and a much sought-after accolade for winners, colleges, and tutors.”

Christian Hatherall-Good, Vice President of the Guild of Bricklayers and Training & Apprenticeship Manager at Lee Marley Brickwork, says: “I am passionate about bringing new young talent into construction and these awards achieve exactly that. Grayson has supported the Guild of Bricklayers immensely over the years, providing free access to all the latest products being used on site, specialist training tools and materials, event and competition support, as well as training on a wide range of brickwork sundries. The Guild of Bricklayers is immensely grateful and fortunate to have Grayson on board as a partner.”
