As part of our recent series on different elements to consider when selecting a roof window for a customer, six lucky readers have won a break away for two to six locations, courtesy of Dakea.
The Break Away competition, which ran in Professional Builder magazine this year, saw readers answer a multiple-choice question on Dakea’s Ultima roof window, for a chance to win a holiday for two. After receiving hundreds of entries from readers, our six winners have now been chosen and have booked their trips away.

Stephen Wiltshire, Sole Trader at S W Building Services who won a break away to Scotland and had the opportunity to visit the Scottish Highlands in August with his wife, Kate. He said: “We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thanks to Dakea for this Break Away and still can’t quite believe that we have won this amazing holiday with an exciting itinerary all sorted for us. We are especially grateful as we usually spend so much time supporting our disabled adult son that we rarely get a chance for a ‘proper holiday’ so we are looking forward to some luxury time out.”
Ian Freeth, Electrician at Selecta Systems, whose son will be joining him on a trip to the world famous Ice Hotel in March 2019. He said: “It’s just unbelievable – you enter these things and you never really think you’ll win, but now I’m getting ready to go on holiday! We’re so grateful and really chuffed.”
Alix Johnson, who will be able to celebrate her mother’s 70th birthday in Dubai this December with her partner Carl said, “I can’t believe I’ve won! Getting the call absolutely made my day. Thank you to Dakea for such an excellent opportunity.”
Chris Tomlinson at Lea Construction will be enjoying a trip to Monaco, to enjoy the sights and sunshine in the city famed for the annual Grand Prix event. He said: “This is a brilliant competition that’s given me the chance to visit such an iconic place, and I’m lucky enough to be able to go during the 2019 Grand Prix! I’d like to extend my thanks to Dakea for this opportunity.”
Chris Davies and his partner Lowri will be staying at the Swissôtel in Chicago, just steps away from the Magnificent Mile. “You generally only have a fool’s hope of winning whatever competition you enter but when you actually win something great like a holiday it’s such an amazing thing! We can’t wait until Chicago, looks like a fabulous place to visit.”
Andrew Willis of A M Willis Builders, will be staying in the in Raddison Blu Scandinavia in Oslo, Norway. “My wife and I were so thrilled to win – we’ve never visited Norway before, so we’re really looking forward to the holiday!”
