British Gypsum’s new website launch demonstrates a leading approach to data and marketing integrity

Stacey Temprell, Marketing Director at British Gypsum, explains how its new website leads the way in greater data integrity for a safer construction industry.

British Gypsum has been at the forefront of manufacturing high performance drylining solutions for over 150 years. Whilst that’s something we’re incredibly proud of, it’s also a position that comes with great responsibility. As the construction industry continues to come under close scrutiny, it’s never been more vital for us to play our part in raising standards across the industry and facilitate better building outcomes.

To this end, we have conducted an in-depth review into our approach to data and marketing integrity. We’ve made a far-reaching commitment to provide complete transparency to all partner construction customers and the launch of our new website demonstrates this commitment in action with several important features.

One significant change is that the new website is now fed by a single Product Information Management (PIM) system. It’s vital that we provide absolute certainty when it comes to fire safety and technical competency and the PIM system provides all the data on drylining products, systems and specifications from a single source. It’s completely reliable and up-to-date, in line with the guidance from the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI), and makes it much easier for customers to continue to specify with absolute confidence.

Our White Book Specification Selector also has improved functionality to make it easier for users to find exactly what they’re looking for. This includes the ability to compare specifications directly, making it simple to identify the right specification for any given project.

Another key feature of the website is that all product performance data has been tested to rigorous EN standards. It’s these, rather than BS standards, that are now served automatically through the White Book Specification Selector. Although it is still possible to access BS standards data, prioritising EN demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards possible.

Although these changes have already taken significant investment, we are far from finished on our mission to support the industry build better. Rather, we’re committed to a continuous cycle of improvement and to supporting the golden thread that’s so vital for our industry to thrive.
