The Professional Builder and Mr A Builders YouTube Channels team up with Bond It to test out an exciting range of products

We recently partnered up with Bond It’s to look at three products from its extensive range. These were Plasterers Pregrit, Mega Stik PU Adhesive and Gripbond Pro Hybrid Sealant and Adhesive. We brought these to site for a series of tests with the Mr A Builders YouTube Channel. Plasterers Pregrit
Matt from Mr A Builders showed us how to use Bond It’s Plasterers Pregrit on an internal wall with multiple different surfaces. With plastering, preparation is key! So, Matt first made sure to use a scraper on his wall, removing any old flaking paint and then sweeping any dust off with a brush.
When it’s time to apply the Pregrit, this should be done with a smooth non-foam roller. Matt used a standard 9” emulsion one in a medium pile, making sure to get good coverage on the areas that need it most. Helpfully, the Plasterers Pregrit is coloured. This prevents doing too thick a coat and lets the applicator see where they’ve already applied the product.
Gripbond Pro
For our next Bond It product, we used the company’s Gripbond Pro Hybrid Sealant and Adhesive. This time, our tester was Adam from Mr A Builders, taking us through an overview of the product. Adam is actually doing some work on his house at the moment, so was using Gripbond Pro to stick and then seal a shower panel in his new en-suite.
There’s often a worry with glossy plastic, like the back of Adam’s shower panel, that adhesives won’t stick very well. Thankfully, Gripbond Pro was more than up to the task and Adam stuck his shower panel to the wall with ease. Adam was very impressed that he could then seal the panel with the same product too. He was also pretty chuffed with the fact it can work with all metals, plastic, polystyrene and wood. It is also weatherproof, non-shrinkable and paintable. Adam describes it best – “all singing and dancing!”.
Mega Stik
For our final Bond It product, Matt was back and using the Mega Stik PU Adhesive to stick plasterboard to a wall. With a handy comparison, he showed us why it’s important to shake the product vigorously before use as the company advises. Otherwise, the viscosity won’t be right.
After applying the Mega Stik to the back of the plasterboard, Matt made sure to keep a firm pressure on the board as he stuck it to the wall. He then filled the gaps around the board with the same adhesive. No need to worry about mess here as excess product can be cut after 24 hours. Finally, Matt holds the plasterboard in place for five minutes to help give it that extra bit of Stik!
