A Tippers builders’ merchant branch employee has followed his own advice to smooth the concrete floor of a new workshop adjoining his home in Uttoxeter, using Setcrete Exterior levelling compound to deliver a flawlessly smooth floor that will withstand exposure to the elements.
Mark Chadfield, who works at the Uttoxeter branch of Tippers, wasn’t satisfied with the condition of the pre-installed concrete base in the 130ft2 area. He therefore opted to use Setcrete Exterior, which he is familiar with from his day job, to create a perfectly smooth standalone wearing surface.
After scraping away loose debris and vacuuming to provide a clean concrete base that is sound, strong and supportive, he primed the concrete base with Setcrete acrylic primer. He then poured the water-mix levelling compound on to the floor, allowing it to flow naturally, requiring minimal trowel work to achieve a smooth finish.
Unaffected by rain or frost when set and dried, Setcrete Exterior is designed for smoothing and levelling outside areas that are subject to varying climatic conditions. It is ideally suited for balconies, patios and walkways, as well as semi-external spaces, such as garages, that are partially exposed to the elements. It is also suitable for smoothing subfloors prior to the application of a suitable non-slip coating or external covering such as artificial grass or tiles.
