tesa, recognised throughout the Painting & Decorating sector for the quality of its Precision range of masking tapes, is continuing to roll out an innovative training programme aimed at professional decorators of the future.
In the company’s latest strategy supporting its successful Professional range, tesa has implemented a series of training sessions with colleges across the country for a second year.
The programme, aimed at Year 1, 2 and 3 apprentices and mature students, provides a better understanding of the use of tesa’s masking tapes and applications using a mix of classroom presentations and practical sessions.
The 2017/18 schedule is well underway, with training sessions in Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham, Barnfield, Walsall and Leicester already complete. Colleges in Blackpool and Hull are also scheduled to be visited by tesa in 2018.
“When we found out tesa would be running dedicated college training sessions for a second year, I jumped at the chance to bring them back” said Kirk Staines, Programme Lead at Leicester College.
“On both occasions our learners were engaged during the class room based technical, and historical presentations, then had the opportunity to use products in practical sessions. The learners were working on decorative effects which feature substantial amounts of masking and even used tesa tapes to paint the college’s Gold Accredited restaurant.
“The products did not disappoint, and I am sure the learners will have brand awareness of tesa products in the future. I would recommend tesa demonstrating to any P&D department or painting company”.
Trainers Greg Perkins, tesa’s Key Account Manager and Nigel Jarram, Sales Area Representative, are pleased with the continued positive response. “We continue to recognise the importance of supporting the Painting & Decorating workforce of the future and believe that sharing our expertise will provide these students with the additional knowledge to contribute to a successful career”, commented Greg Perkins.
Nigel Jarram concluded, “The training is going extremely well and receiving a very positive response. We will be running a number of competitions throughout 2018 where students can win a range of tesa tapes and essentials. In addition, the Professional Decorator App launched last year has proved to be a great asset to the students, offering advice at the touch of a button on the right tapes for the right job. It can be downloaded for free via Google Play and the App store.”
tesa training sessions are available to colleges nationwide and there is currently still room for inclusion on the current schedule. Interested educational institutions can request more information from ukenquiry@tesa.com
