Zoo Hardware’s new range of flush hinges are up to three times faster to fit than traditional butt hinges. In this step-by-step guide, we take you through the simple steps to installation.
Time-saving products are always welcome and Zoo Hardware’s new range of flush hinges is no exception. The new ZHSSFH-243 series uses a concept commonly used with cupboard or cabinet doors, otherwise known as an interleaf hinge, to offer a unique flush design for full size internal residential door sets.
The design removes the need for morticing into a door leaf or frame with a more traditional butt hinge, whilst also eliminating the need for intumescent hinge pads if the hinge is being fitted to a fire rated door.
Under speed trials, the time taken to fit three flush hinges compared to three butt hinges was greatly reduced. This can deliver significant time and cost savings for joiners, housebuilders and developers, especially when applied to multiple doors per property.
To fit a flush hinge, follow these simple steps.
Step One: Start by measuring up and marking the hinge positions on the door.
Step Two: Translate the measurements onto the frame in the same positions. There’s no need to chisel out.
Step Three: Drill the pilot holes into the door and mount the hinge to the door, using the screws provided.
Step Four: Place the door into position using shims, check the initial measurements are correct and drill pilot holes into the frame. Again, there is no chiselling required to ensure the hinge is flush.
Step Five: Fit the hinge and attach the door to the frame, using the screws provided.
Step Six: Check the operation of the door and the job is done.
