Milbank Concrete Products launches GDeck

Milbank Concrete Products is proud to introduce Milbank GDeck— a smart, installer-friendly insulated EPS flooring system designed to make ground floor construction faster, safer, and more thermally efficient.

As part of Milbank’s ongoing drive to become the most sustainable supplier of precast concrete in the UK, this latest innovation gives builders and developers a practical way to improve the thermal performance of homes and buildings – helping reduce heating demand and lower operational CO₂ emissions.

With its fully integrated top sheet and immediate walk-on capability, Milbank GDeck delivers a complete structural and thermal flooring solution that enhances site efficiency and supports energy-conscious construction. Unlike traditional systems that require additional boarding or coverings, Milbank GDeck is safe to walk on as soon as it’s installed – enabling faster progress for follow-on trades and reducing time, labour, and on-site disruption.

“Milbank GDeck is the result of intelligent, installer-focused design – a smarter, cleaner way to build,” said David Costin, Innovation and Strategy Director at Milbank Concrete Products. “With its integrated top sheet and walk-on capability, it simplifies installation and eliminates the need for temporary coverings, saving valuable time on site. But it’s about more than speed – Milbank GDeck also supports better thermal performance and lower carbon emissions, helping builders meet the demands of modern, energy-efficient construction.”

A Smarter, Cleaner Install

GDeck uses Milbank’s precision-engineered prestressed concrete T-beams combined with load-bearing EPS insulation panels, forming a continuous structural and thermal layer. Designed around your build, every system is tailored by Milbank’s in-house design team and delivered with full layout drawings and component traceability.

Added Sustainability

Milbank GDeck has been developed as part of Milbank’s ongoing commitment to reducing the environmental impact of construction — not just through material efficiency and build speed, but through measurable reductions in embodied carbon.

What makes Milbank GDeck more sustainable?

  • Low-carbon concrete mix –Milbank GDeck uses a specially developed mix design with reduced cement content, lowering CO₂ emissions compared to standard concrete mixes used in traditional precast and in-situ construction.
  • Prestressed concrete beams – Engineered for maximum strength with less material, our beams use tensioned steel to reduce the amount of concrete needed, resulting in up to 25% less embodied carbon than conventional reinforced concrete beams.
  • EPS panels with recycled content – Each insulation panel includes 15% recycled material and is fully recyclable at end of life, supporting circular economy principles.

By combining improved thermal performance with lower carbon components, Milbank GDeck helps reduce both operational carbon (through better energy efficiency) and embodied carbon (through smarter material use) – supporting the industry’s transition to more sustainable building practices.
