Family home transformation by Osmo UK

When the owners of a detached family home in rural Shropshire required the front porch and door to be sanded and re-oiled, they called upon David Lloyd Painting and Decorating to take on the project using wood finishes from Osmo UK.

The porch had been oiled many years ago so was looking tired and worn, while the door, which had been previously varnished, was now peeling pretty badly. When David Lloyd visited the property, the owner explained that they would like the wood to be treated using products from Osmo UK. David has had some experience using Osmo UK finishes, so he was confident that the chosen product would provide a great finish with excellent durability. Understanding the project in hand, David opted for UV-Protection-Oil.

“I spent half a day sanding the surfaces down with my Festool RTS400 sander and numerous sanding pads,” explained David. “I started with a P80 grit and worked my way down to a P120 grit. This is the recommended finishing grade for accepting the Osmo finish. Once sanded and cleaned, it took me a couple of hours to apply the first thin coat of UV-Protection-Oil. I let this coat dry overnight and returned the following day to apply a second coat.

“I thoroughly enjoy using Osmo UK products as they are nice to apply, the product goes on really well and the clear oil allows the natural beauty of the wood to show through. I’m always pleased with the end results that these products offer and was delighted that the owners agreed with me – they were amazed at the difference.”

Osmo UV-Protection-Oil is a quality finish that protects, maintains, and restores exterior wood. It has been specially designed to protect the wood, leaving it looking in top condition throughout summer months.

Based on natural oil, it does not crack, flake, peel or blister. This natural protective finish has been produced to delay the greying effect on exterior wood due to exposure to the sun, whilst  maintaining the wood’s natural aesthetics.
