HAVS/White Finger
A new British-made technology could prevent Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), also known as “White Finger”. Developed by Coventry based start-up, Feraru Dynamics, the HAV Sentry Glove monitors, in real-time, the vibrations created by heavy machinery when worn by construction workers operating tools such as grinders, drills and concrete breakers. The technology alerts operatives when it reaches dangerous levels so they know to take a break.
Voltage Detector
Multi coloured LED lights, vibration and sound feedback alarms all feature on the FLIR Systems VP50-2 Non-Contact Voltage Detector. Users can reliably check if an AC circuit is live before beginning work. It will detect voltage on exposed conducting parts, or through insulation, identify live wires within electrical panels, switches, and outlets, and trace live wires and map circuits. An anti-roll case body and durable construction can withstand a 3-metre drop onto concrete.
Body Heat Sensor
A new wearable, real-time heat monitoring system alerts a worker when core body temperature is too high. The Kenzen Smart PPE patch can provide insight into heart rate, activity, skin and ambient temperatures. The alerts are sent to users via device vibration, iOS or Android app notification. These are accompanied by actionable recommendations, such as advise to take a break, or drink water.
