As the construction industry begins to get back up and running, SIG Roofing shares its branch reopening plans.
With activity on sites nationwide beginning to resume, roofing merchant SIG Roofing has announced the phased reopening of almost half of its 100-strong branch network
As of Monday 4th May, 47 strategically located SIG branches had re-opened; the first step in a phased approach to ensure roofers can source supplies.
Ashley Chivers, sales director at SIG UK, commented: “Following our decision to temporarily suspend activity across our branches nationwide due to COVID-19, we have now launched a programme to reopen a number of branches to ensure we’re able to supply essential products to our customers – and support the UK construction industry.
“This is the first part of a phased approach to reopen our network that has been taken with the safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers as our utmost priority. The most stringent health and safety measures have been implemented to insure we’re safeguarding or customer and our employments.”
Among the measures introduced by SIG Roofing include a ‘one in, one out’ rule for each branch; ensuring customers and staff are able to maintain 2m distance from one another at all times, in compliance with the government’s social distancing regulations. Each trade counter will also be fitted with a Plexiglas shield, to minimise the risk of contagion.
Ashley continued: ‘We know how important it is for construction industry professionals to get back to work. With a great many small business owners or self employed, we recognise their urgency to get back on site as soon as is safe to do so. That’s why we’ve made significant investment in our stock holding to ensure we can supply the right product, every time, to the UK’s roofing sector.
“With health and safety rightly at the top of everyone’s concerns, we have also invested in our PPE offering, which includes masks, gloves and hygiene kits, to ensure roofers can best protect themselves when back on site.”
