Last chance for groups to enter Give London A Lift campaign

London-based charities, community groups, clubs and sports teams are being urged to grasp their final chance to win a share of a £10,000 community fund.

Leading decorating, hardware and DIY specialist Leyland SDM, which has 23 stores on high streets across the capital, has already given eight organisations a £1,000 boost through its Give London a Lift campaign since its launch in June.

Winners have included primary schools, community centres and youth groups, which have all valued spending the store credit to spruce up their facilities.

Groups now have until the end of October to apply for their slice of the pie before applications close.

Every application is considered by a team of judges and two more winners will be selected at the start of November.

Paul Gerreli, Marketing Director at Leyland SDM, said: “Our Give London a Lift campaign has been a resounding success. We have had dozens of applications from some incredibly worthy causes and it has been difficult to select our two winners each month.

“We’re really pleased to be providing some positivity to the capital in this difficult time.

“With everything from paint to tools and electrical wiring to plumbing parts available from our stores, all of the winners have used their money wisely and made a real difference to their facilities.

“We’re proud to be making a difference in the city we love.”

Groups can apply for prizes to help them open new premises, recover an existing building from a state of disrepair or any other project which benefits the community.

Applications can be made on the Leyland SDM website – leylandsdm.co.uk/givelondonalift – by providing a 200-word overview of what the organisation does, how it benefits the community and how the £1,000 credit would be spent.

Established in 1985, Leyland SDM started trading with a single store in Central London, supplying local tradesmen as a Specialist Decorators’ Merchants with paint and decorating materials.

Today the business has grown to become one of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY retail brands in Central London with stores in some of London’s most prominent locations, including King’s Road Chelsea, High Street Kensington, Shaftesbury Avenue, Victoria, Streatham, Notting Hill and Clapham High Street.
