Ford Transit celebrates 50th birthday

Get involved in the Ford Transit 50th birthday celebrations as Britain’s best loved van celebrates its own fifty shades of “greytness”!

The statistics surrounding the iconic Ford Transit are simply mind blowing, but the only one that really matters to Professional Builder readers right now is that it is celebrating its 50th birthday in 2015 and you are invited to join in the party!

We have arranged with our friends at Ford for a six month loan of the latest version, the Ford Transit Custom, which we will be using to travel the highways and byways of the UK to give away a van load of highly desirable celebratory merchandise. The only qualification criteria is that we want to hear from readers who, just like the Transit, also have reason to celebrate a golden milestone this year.

It may be your birthday, your partners, or perhaps the foreman who has been trying to keep the big day a secret! Can the business itself trace its origins all the way back to 1965? Or did you take the plunge in another way and are celebrating a famous wedding anniversary in the coming months? Just drop us an email and let us know and you really could be having your cake and eat it on Ford.

Meanwhile, at Ford main dealership, Jennings of Middlesbrough the count down to the big day in August, when the first ever Transit rolled of the production line, has already began in earnest, with the unveiling of a specially liveried golden Transit. Not surprisingly, it is already attracting some serious local interest, and is expected to be the first of several special Transits to get the Golden Treatment.

“I was thinking about what we should do to get involved in the celebrations and a professionally blinged up new Ford Transit Custom seemed the ideal scenario,” explains Alain Blaines, Manager of the Jennings Transit Centre. “At the end of the day, underneath it’s still the same great workhorse but turning up in this is bound to cause a bit of a stir and should be great for any business that wants to add it their fleet,” enthuses Alan.
