Dulux Trade, leaders in exterior protection, has released Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss, a new water-based exterior trim product that is as durable as its Dulux Trade solvent-based equivalent. The high gloss paint offers a new and improved formula, incorporating an alkyd emulsion innovation that helps guarantee eight years of all-weather protection for wood and metal surfaces.
Advancements in water-based exterior trim paint technology specifically for this product have led to increased durability against weathering, improved aesthetics and superior gloss. Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss will appeal to both contract specifiers and premium decorators looking to give their clients the best possible finish. The new paint also offers a more sustainable decorating experience, with less volatile organic compounds present in water-based systems compared to solvent-based.
As a next generation exterior paint, Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss is now as robust as its Dulux Trade solvent-based equivalent and the consistency feels like an solvent-based product during application. It also boasts an improved eight years of weather protection – up from six years – when applied using the full Weathershield Exterior Gloss System, including preservative primer, undercoat and then gloss. Crucially, the finish has been upgraded to High Gloss with enhanced gloss retention for longer lasting shine, and – as with previous Weathershield products – includes added fungicide to ensure the surface looks better for longer. Decorators and specifiers can now look forward to using the next generation of exterior paints with superior shine and ultimate durability.
Rebecca Orton, Marketing Manager at Dulux Trade, said: “We’re launching Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss to reinforce our commitment to providing the highest quality paints and drive trial of water-based exterior gloss systems among the trade. It is time for the industry to reassess historic notions of inferiority when talking about solvent vs. water-based exterior paints, as advances in technology are showing us that the quality credentials on both sides are becoming relatively equal. We must also consider the increasing demands from clients, who are ever more concerned about using sustainable products.
“Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss is designed for contractors and premium decorators who want the best quality paint that is durable, high gloss, and quick drying with excellent adhesion and a smooth finish. It is flexible to accommodate the natural, seasonal movement of wood and has extra adhesion due to added alkyd emulsion. We are acutely aware of our customer’s high standards and desire to offer their clients the highest level of finish regardless of the premium price point, which is why we continue to innovate and enhance our range to offer best-in class, trade-worthy products to our loyal customers.”
By offering a three-base system, Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss has an expansive range in excess of 9,000 colours, with over 3,000 new shades to choose from.
