Dulux Select Decorators redecorate the short-break facility at White Lodge

A team of Dulux Select Decorators has played an instrumental role in helping a charity that supports children and adults with disabilities in Surrey to repaint its respite facility.

Jason Webb of A J W Painting Contractors Ltd, a member of the Dulux Select Decorator scheme, volunteered to redecorate areas of White Lodge in Chertsey, which offers crucial support to over 2,500 disabled people, their families and carers. To support White Lodge and Jason, a small team of other painting professionals from the 575-strong community of Dulux Select Decorators came together and pitched in to help him complete the work.

Jason and his fellow decorators gave a fresh coat of paint to Treetops, the charity’s six-bedroom short-breaks facility for disabled children and young people. Dulux Decorator Centre also donated all the paint needed to complete the project to the highest standard.

Jeremy Woodhall, White Lodge Facilities Coordinator, said: “We were thrilled to receive this donation of both time and products from Jason and Dulux Decorator Centre to help redecorate our Treetops centre. “We are so grateful as the difference we can make to the disabled community is just not possible without support like this”. “We would like to thank Jason and his fellow Dulux Select Decorators for giving the facility a much-needed revamp. Treetops has never looked so good!”

Jason Webb added: “White Lodge does such great work and provides a lifeline for many disabled people and their families who live in the area. It was an honour to support the charity by helping them to redecorate their Treetops site.”

The support from Jason and the Dulux Select Decorators comes as the scheme celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Vickie Mather, Dulux Select Decorators Lead, said: “We were immeasurably proud to hear that one of our Dulux Select Decorators, Jason, was volunteering his time to help White Lodge redecorate its short-break centre, so we were happy to help out and make this an official Dulux Select Decorator charity project.

“With the scheme celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, this act of charity and comradery from our professionals is a prime example of what we set out to achieve when establishing it in 1996.

“The support that Jason and his fellow members have given the local charity is just one example of how the scheme not only helps grow and develop talent, but creates a community of like-minded decorators. The camerarderie that we have created for decorators on the scheme is so important because decorating can sometimes be quite an isolating trade.”

The Dulux Select Decorator scheme comprises more than 575 experienced decorators who have passed a comprehensive workmanship assessment, with Dulux guaranteeing their work for two years after completion.

Professional decorators can only apply to join the scheme once they’ve been a painter and decorator for three years and have run a successful business for at least a year, ensuring that Dulux is carefully selecting from the best in the trade.
