Dulux Academy brings decorating industry back together with ‘Open House’ event

Dulux Academy is helping decorators reconnect following the disruption of the pandemic – with an interactive open day at its Slough HQ.

The coronavirus outbreak saw many in the industry struggle with mental health challenges as a result of restrictions forcing them to work in isolation. But, as the country continues its return to normality, Dulux Academy is throwing open its doors on August 20 for an ‘Open House’ event, where decorators can reunite. It will give painters and decorators the opportunity to explore the centre’s new facilities as well as allowing those who attended Dulux Academy Live courses during lockdown to meet face-fo-face for the first time.

Recent developments include a state-of-the-art Spray Theatre that allows expert skills development consultants to provide more in-depth classes using the latest equipment supplied by Graco. Visitors can also enjoy tours of the Colour Studio and Media Centre as well as tasters of courses from Colour Use to Urban Effects.

Further attractions include a visit from the iconic Dulux Dog, a complementary BBQ, sideshows and product demonstrations from trusted supplier partners Graco, Mirka, Tesa, Repair Care, Axus, Rodo and Corona; plus a prize draw, which will be raising money for the charities being supported by the forthcoming Dulux London Revolution.

Vickie Mather, Dulux Academy Lead says: “We’re committed to equipping the nation’s painters and decorators with the skills that ensure they can remain a cut above the competition. That’s why from the start of the outbreak we quickly moved our learning online with the launch of the Dulux Academy Live. But, as we emerge from these challenging circumstances, we’re delighted to open the doors to the Academy once more.”

“Our ‘Open House’ event provides a perfect opportunity for decorators to both reconnect and forge new relationships while exploring the full range of upskilling opportunities we can offer.”

Launched in 2016, Dulux Academy is the UK’s first dedicated training centre for professional painters and decorators.  Courses are delivered by experienced Dulux Academy skills development consultants, who are all former professionals. Approved by City & Guilds and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), to date Dulux Academy has welcomed more than 8,000 in-person course attendees and a further 3,000 online.

To register to attend the ‘Open House’ event please RSVP to duluxacademy@akzonobel.com by 16th August.
