Entries for the Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Awards for 2022 are now open for painters and decorators across the UK and Ireland to showcase their best work.
The annual awards bring together top talent from across the painting and decorating industry to celebrate the most outstanding work during 2022. The awards ceremony will be hosted at the spectacular Royal Hall in Harrogate, on 6th May 2023.
Any projects completed by a professional applier from January to December 2022 that have used PPG coatings either on new works, refurbishments or redecoration can be entered, and there are no restrictions on the size of the project. Entrants can submit as many projects as they want, with each entry submitted on a separate entry form before the closing date of 16th December 2022.
Every project entered is then assessed by PPG technical experts on the following criteria:
- The quality of the decorative finish
- The intricacy of the work involved
- The technical and logistical challenges presented by the project
A PPG judging panel will assess all the entries and agree on a final shortlist of projects. The projects are then split into categories, with example categories from previous years including Residential, Healthcare, and Industrial and Commercial. The category winners on the night will then go head-to-head to see who is voted ‘The Supreme Winner’, who will take home a brand-new van!
Rachel Copley, marketing director at PPG, said: “We are delighted to be launching this year’s edition of the Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Awards. The competition has been running since 1983 and is widely recognised as one of the premier events in the industry calendar. Last year was the first in-person event since the pandemic and was a huge success, so we’re looking forward to emulating that again this year with a host of amazing entrants.
“The awards are an excellent way to celebrate the incredible work painters and decorators do across the UK and recognition at the awards really is the ultimate accolade in the sector for any trade professional. It’s a source of real pride for us to be able to highlight and demonstrate our brands and how they’ve been used to great effect across so many impressive and prestigious projects.”
