DeWalt Multi-Tool

DeWalt Multi-Tool

Apprentice Builder products tester, Adrian Wintersgill multi-tasks with Dewalt

After seeing a variety of Multi Tools over the years I was excited to test DeWalt’s new model, which I believe is a must have for all tradespeople – this is definitely a tool not to be taken lightly. The compact 300w motor gives you the power of 0 – 20,000 oscillations per minute for speed and precision on a range of tasks,. The tool uses 2.0Ah or 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion battery technology for extended runtime displaying its ability when being put to the test.

I have used this almost every day and it is becoming a big part of my toolkit for tasks such as kitchen fitting when trying to cut out the back of carcasses and its precision is second to none. There is also the added benefit of a bright LED torch (which others do not boast) and whilst using the tool it aids massively in those awkward to reach areas with low visibility.

The Multi Tool’s variable speed handling on the trigger and soft grip makes it comfortable to use as well as giving you stability. The vacuum attachment is also a key feature that can be used to prevent debris whilst cutting, therefore aiding your vision.

Changing the various attachments can be done effortlessly meaning that the tool can be used for the all of the tasks below and more.

  • Precise cutting of skirting or drywall
  • Clean grout removal
  • Cutting heavy fabrics, vinyl and flooring
  • Accurate cutting of construction timber
  • Preparing a range of surfaces
  • Detail sanding
  • Removal of adhesives or sealant residue
  • Clean cutting of metal or plastic pipes

With a sleek compact toolbox containing all the attachments as well as your chargers, it’s almost like having a full toolkit at your disposal. After Using the DeWalt Xr tool it will never be taken for granted as it is simply one of the best tools on the market in my opinion.
