Rated People reveals the true cost of moving home without the help of professionals.
The UK’s no.1 home services market place, Rated People, which connects homeowners to tradespeople, is adding removals specialists to their service following key findings from a UK wide survey of home movers.
Findings from an independent survey of 2,000 home movers across the UK revealed that the cost of moving home without a professional company went beyond financial impact, infringing greatly on time and sometimes on wellbeing.
In fact, 1 in 3 home movers who had not hired a removals company say they regretted their decision and would hire professionals in future as the trade off to the cost saving was too great.
44% of self-movers highlighted that the worst thing about moving without a professional was the actual time it took, while tackling stairs was cited by 24% as being the worst part of the experience. Unfortunately for some self-movers, 1 in 10 also sustained injuries in the process of the move.
The experiences of self-movers are in contrast to those who used professionals to move home. From those who chose to hire a removals specialist, over 53% stated that it was worth the expense as it made the entire experience easier. 43% also stated that the best thing was having someone else to do the heavy lifting.

From those surveyed, 7 out of 10 people who invested in an end of tenancy clean said it saved them from losing money on their deposit while a massive 90% of people found an end of tenancy clean worthwhile.
